Green event space opens in Brighton
Thursday, 15 July 2010
This summer sees Brighton unveil its newest event facility; the £10m Fulton Building.
Part of the University of Sussex campus, the venue has been designed to meet the highest environmental standards. This includes natural ventilation that gives the building a low carbon footprint, and replacing a car park with a grass courtyard.
The Fulton Building offers 3,000 sqm of space across three floors, including two 160 seat lecture theatres and 26 seminar rooms. The new build echoes the core campus buildings’ original architecture by Sir Basil Spence, with additional contemporary features.
Inside, the building gives users a strong sense of light and space, and all rooms have AV facilities.
The first event to use the Fulton Building was the 7th Biennial International Auto/Biography Association Conference "Life Writing and Intimate Publics" which took place on 28th June. The four day event was attended by over 350 delegates from across the globe.
Darren Johnson, convention bureau sales manager, VisitBrighton said: “The Fulton Building represents just one of many city-wide initiatives and investments designed to enhance our destination product and embody our city’s green stance.”
