The Southport Conferences portfolio has been accredited by the Meeting Industry Association’s conference and meetings industry AIM standard.
The Southport Theatre and Convention Centre has completed its assessment in the seaside resort.
It joins Southport Conferences and venues including the Ramada Plaza, Vincent Hotel, Scarisbrick Hotel, The Royal Clifton Hotel & Spa, The Prince of Wales Hotel, Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa and Aintree Racecourse.
Council cabinet member for leisure and tourism in Sefton, Mike Booth said; “This is a major coup for Southport and all of its associated venues. The AIM scheme is a widely recognised quality standard throughout the meetings and conference industry and as such Southport has put a lot of time and investment into implementing it destination-wide.
“On average business visitors spend three times as much as leisure guests so it is very important to the local economy that we continue to attract them to the resort. Following schemes such as AIM ensures that Southport’s high quality facilities are matched with the same high quality service delivery that we strive to provide and our business tourism offering can continue to grow and develop.”
Jane Evans, Chief Executive of the MIA added; “Southport is a destination that is really emerging on the meetings and events scene and continues to do so with the investment and commitment it is placing in its business tourism product.”
